This double-sided DVD holds music videos Gondry directed for numerous bands, a booklet containing artwork and interviews and the trailer for his film with Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Michel Gondry has a reputation for producing some of the most dizzying, eclectic, and innovative work in the music video field. Rising to prominence with videos for bands including Massive Attack, Bjork, and Radiohead, Gondry has progressed to work with an array of artists from different fields, including The Rolling Stones and The White Stripes. His lego-assisted video for the latter band garnered several MTV Video Award nominations. This sumptuous package includes over 300 minutes of material, with videos, interviews, behind the scenes footage, and some short films, including PECAN starring Jim Carrey. Gondry has progressed to make a name for himself as a feature film director (HUMAN NATURE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND), but this early groundbreaking work is a vital part of his ouvre. Michel Gondry is currently one of the most acclaimed and respected music video directors in the industry. Gondry got his start while studying graphics at a French art school when he began directing videos for the band Oui Oui, for which he played drums. The clips' success attracted other local bands, and it wasn't long before he was working internationally. In 1993 Gondry met pop singer Bjork, commencing one of his longest and most successful professional creative relationships. Their first collaboration, the video for "Human Behavior," won practically every existing music video award. Gondry went on to helm another five of Bjork's videos, including "Joga" and "Bachelorette," while also collaborating with wide-ranging artists such as The Rolling Stones, Beck, Daft Punk, Chemical Brothers, Foo Fighters, Lenny Kravitz, Sheryl Crow and Cibo Matto. One of his first spots, Levi's "Drugstore" (1994), garnered the Lion D'Or at Cannes and is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most award-winning commercial of all time. Among his other notable credits are Levi's "Mermaids," winner of a silver at the Clio Awards and a bronze at Cannes; and Smirnoff's "Smarienburg" (1997), which captured gold medals at Cannes and the Clio Awards. Most recently, Gondry completed a series of spots for Gap's lyrical "That's Holiday" campaign, as well as Levi's "Bellybuttons."
